Owning a settlement layer has usually meant one of two bad trades: rent trust from a platform, or staff a datacenter. NABD exists to remove that trade. Its consensus layer, NabdBFT, finalizes each block through four deterministic phases (PROPOSE, VOTE, CERTIFY, COMMIT) under a strict two-thirds quorum, in about a second on shared two-vCPU machines. It recovers from a crashed leader in about three. That means a community, company, school, or cooperative can operate its own ledger with the resilience of a much larger system.

Ownership without isolation: chains in the NABD model keep a shared root record, so proofs, fairness guarantees, and long-lived commitments stay publicly verifiable while the economy on top remains yours to govern.

Practical finality

Blocks finalize deterministically under a strict two-thirds quorum, at a measured mean of 1.214 seconds on the live testnet. Settlement is a fact, not a probability.

Live recovery

A heartbeat subsystem watches every validator continuously and replaces a dead leader in about 3.3 seconds, three to ten times faster than reactive BFT protocols such as PBFT, Tendermint, and HotStuff.

Accountable approval

Treasury moves, governance changes, and program actions can require live human authorization, recorded on chain as signed policy effects while biometric data stays off it.
